Regular videoconference meetings with foreign partners

The 20th meeting of the joint committee "Turkmenistan-European Union" was held at the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the online format. The meeting brought together the heads and representatives of relevant specialized structures, business circles of Turkmenistan and the EU.

The meting agenda included the issues of further expanding productive cooperation in various fields.

Particular attention was paid to the macroeconomic situation in Turkmenistan and the EU. In this regard, having analyzed the results of joint activities, meeting participants underlined the importance of joining efforts to effectively counter the pandemic and overcome its negative impact on the economy.

Meeting participants focused on the priority areas of cooperation, including in the spheres of energy, transport and trade. The parties agreed to exchange technological and information resources.

Particular attention was paid to digitalization, which is due to the progressive reforms carried out in our country on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the aim to modernize all spheres of life of the state and society, and implement large-scale plans for the industrialization of the economy.

Online Turkmen-Swiss business forum was held with the participation of the Chambers of Commerce, representatives of a number of ministries, departments and business circles of Turkmenistan and the Swiss Confederation in order to develop new approaches and solutions for realizing the existing potential of cooperation and building up trade and economic ties between the two friendly countries.

Representatives of about 40 Switzerland companies specializing in the oil and gas sector, in the fields of energy, construction, architecture, mechanical engineering, railway construction and communications took part in the forum.

An overview of the "open doors" policy pursued by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which creates favorable conditions for economic and investment cooperation with foreign partners was presented during the meeting. Among foreign partners are Swiss companies doing business in our country in the oil and gas and textile industries, in the field of renewable energy sources, construction, transport and logistics.

They also discussed the possibility of increasing exports of products manufactured in Turkmenistan to Switzerland.

According to its participants, the forum has provided a platform for analyzing the ways to increase the economic and business activity of the two countries, exchanging views between representatives of government and business structures on mutually beneficial conditions for trade, investment and economic integration.
