Forum of Women of the Central Asian countries - a contribution to the strengthening of interstate cooperation

In the present period gender equality plays a key role in maintenance of stability and consent in society, realisation of huge potential of human on the basis of sustainable development. In the given context issues of creation of the equal rights and possibilities for women act among priorities of national politicians of the countries of the world, including Central Asian ones.

The Dialogue of women of the Central Asian states held in Avaza national tourist zone on August 6 became a bright evidence of it. Organization of the given forum in parallel with the third Consultative meeting of heads of the states of Central Asia stimulated its activity as effective format of interaction of representatives of the region, strengthened positions of this organisation at international level.

The high level of its organization ensured participation in the forum of members of Governments, members of parliaments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, representatives of authoritative organisations, public associations, international experts on protection of the rights of women.

The Dialogue’s main objective as it was underlined in the messages of heads of the states of Central Asia to participants of the meeting is analysis of the reached progress in realisations of gender equality, escalating of the all-round regional relations directed to advancement multilateral cooperation in various areas.

During the Dialogue issues connected with participation of women in the state and public affairs, relation of transformations and reforms, protection of their rights and interests in the countries of Central Asia, were highlighted. Delegates gave the basic attention to the powerful contribution of women to consolidation of interstate dialogue, development of social and economic relations, cultural and scientific contacts, and partnership in the area of public health services.

In reports of the special representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia Gherman and Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, Assistant Managing Director of the UNDP, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS: Mirjana Spoljaric Egger the huge value given by Presidents of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan for implementation of the policy on maintenance of full participation of women in political, public and economic life of societies, and also the support rendered by leaders of five countries of activity of the Dialogue, was marked.

As results of the forum show, this absolutely new platform on development and cooperation strengthening between women of Central Asia finds today an increasing weight and influence. Now the Dialogue became functional and claimed regional resource.

In speeches of representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan the review of the countries of the region of works carried out by the Governments on maintenance of gender equality by creation and strengthening of legislative and institutional bases, development of the international cooperation was given.

Now in Central Asian states the wide experience in realisation of the rights and freedom of women was gained. In particular, the special attention was given to creation of favourable conditions for their participation in government and society, legislative and governmental structures, bodies of local executive power and self-management, in private sector.

At the meeting the emphasis also was placed on interest of leading structural divisions of the United Nations in rendering of assistance to the states of Central Asia in realisation of national priorities and progressive reforms, including investment of considerable means for maintenance of gender equality. In this plan to the Dialogue of Central Asian women a special role is given.

The forum held in close cooperation with the United Nations Organization, underlining its international importance, became gradual event in strengthening of traditional friendship and close partnership interactions between the states and the people of Central Asia. Results of the meeting and the proposals made during it urged to give new dynamics not only to development of regional cooperation, but also as a whole strengthening of multilateral international partnership.
