As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the co-chairs of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation - Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Managing Director of Itochu Corporation Hiroyuki Tsubai discussed the implementation of joint projects during a videoconference meeting. 

The parties paid special attention to widening of trade and economic relations between the two countries. The parties also analyzed the progress in implementing current projects and considered promising areas of cooperation in the oil and gas industry and transport. In this regard, the parties focused on the projects successfully implemented in Turkmenistan with the participation of Japanese companies, in particular, ammonia and carbamide production plant in Mary, a gas chemical complex in the Kiyanly settlement, a carbamide production plant in Karabogaz and a gasoline production plant (GTG) in Ahal velayat. In addition, the parties reviewed the progress of the construction of a gas turbine power plant in the Lebap velayat.
