A round table was held at the Institute of International Relations on the occasion of declaring May 25, 2021 as the Day of the Sister City of Ashgabat in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. The event was attended by the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan Matthew Stephen Klimow.

Chair for the Ashgabat-Albuquerque Sister Cities Foundation Alana McGratton as well as First Chairperson of the Committee for Cooperation between the Sister Cities of Albuquerque and Ashgabat, Ms. Sally-Alice Thompson presented their congratulations on occasion of the Ashgabat anniversary.

It was underlined the special importance of celebrating the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat in the year of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. First of all, this is due to the recognition of Ashgabat as the capital of friendship, brotherhood, hospitality and the triumph of the principles of humanism.

As noted, declaring May 25, 2021 Day of the Sister City of Ashgabat in Albuquerque by the order of the Mayor of Albuquerque Timothy M. Keller is of particular importance for the further strengthening of close brotherly relations between the two cities.
