The second extended edition of the first volume of memorial book “Hatyra”, which represents a fundamental historical and documentary work dedicated to the memory of soldiers and officer, Turkmenistan citizens, who were killed or lost in action during Great Patriotic War, has been published on the threshold of the 76 anniversary of the Great Patriotic War.
The book starts with the message of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to fellow countrymen on occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The head of the state notes in the book that “dreadful ordeals, unbelievable misery and hard losses of 1941 – 1945, which entered the history as the most tragic years, fallen on people have left unhealed wounds in everyone’s heart. Millions of people have become victims of fascism cruel policy in this horrible war, which lasted for 1,418 days. The families were left without parents, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. Irreparable damage has been caused to the world economy, human culture, development of science and education. Desire for the Great Victory united Turkmen people with fraternal nations in severe battle against hated enemy”.
The introduction article about contribution of Ahal Region and Ashgabat residents to the Victory over fascism, heroism of warriors and selflessness of rare front workers.
Thus, according to the sources, around 62,000 people were mobilized to the army from Ahal Region and the capital. Information about warriors from Turkmenistan awarded with the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union is also presented. Therefore, the fact that the book can help to preserve the memory about our countrymen, who won the peace in hard battle against the enemy, is undisputable benefit of the book.
New edition of the first volume of was prepared for printing by the General Archive Department under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and published by Turkmen State Publishing Service. It contains photos and illustrations and is designated for wide reading audience.
