Turkmenistan is ready for the first elections of members of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh

An important social and political event - the first elections of members of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh will be held in Turkmenistan on Sunday, March 28.

In general, 112 candidates to the members of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh have been registered in Turkmenistan. Thus, 2-3 people run for the Halk Maslahaty member per each mandate that testifies to the alternative nature of the elections.

It should be noted that about 26 % of candidates are women, and this fact vividly demonstrates the great importance that is attached in our country to gender equality and the political activity of women.

In accordance with the established schedule, candidates held 24 meetings with voters. 

Six polling stations in the country reported on the readiness for the elections.

440 national observers, whose main task is to ensure the openness and transparency of the electoral process, its compliance with the legislation, will observe the course of the election campaign.
