Sportsmen of Turkmenistan National Football Team will have three remaining qualification matches of 2020 World Cup in the Republic of Korea. This decision has been taken by the Asian Football Confederation.

It is worth to remind that after five rounds, Turkmenistan team is on the first position in H Group with 9 points. The Republic of Korea (8 points), Lebanon (8 points), the PDRK (8 points) and Sri Lanka (0 points) are in the same group. However, the team of the Republic of Korea has played one match less.

The tournament in this group has started on September 5, 2019. During the tournament, Turkmen players has won two times the team from Sri Lanka with the same 2:0 score both at home and outside, took over the team from the PDRK with 3:1 score, lost to the Republic of Korean 0:2 at home and to Lebanon 1:2 outside.

Turkmenistan National Team was supposed to play against Lebanon at home and against the Republic of Korea and the PDRK outside. However, by the outcomes of the consultations with national associations, the Asian Football Confederation has made a decision to hold final matches of the second round of qualification tournament of 2020 World Cup in eight countries only.

The qualification tournament of the H Group will be held in the Republic of Korea on June 3 -15. The first game, Turkmenistan team will have against the Republic of Korea on June 3 and after, will play against Lebanon on June 11 and against the PDRK on June 15.

12 national teams – 8 winners and 4 best teams, which took the second places in their groups, will be qualified for the final round by the outcomes of the second leg of qualification tournament of 2022 World Cup.
