On February 4, a working meeting via videoconferencing took place in the capital with experts of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Office in Turkmenistan.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the Migration Service, the State Statistics Committee, and the Institute of State, Law and Democracy were among those participating in the meeting from the Turkmen side.

Detailed discussions revolved around the implementation progress of joint programs for 2021. Having pointed out the importance of the 2020-2022 National Action Plan of Turkmenistan to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings approved by the Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in December 2019, the meeting participants spoke for strengthening the productive ties.

In the course of the virtual meeting, a constructive exchange of opinions took place on the issue of developing a draft national strategy for migration, data collection and analysis.

In this context, the experts shared the results of collaborative work, announced current and future plans and projects, and highly praised Turkmenistan’s efforts to implement joint agreements.
