Turkmen-Uzbek political consultations were held in the format of a videoconference meeting. The delegations were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev and his Uzbek counterpart Ilhomjon Nematov. The progressive dynamics of cooperation and the constructive nature of meetings and negotiations at the highest levels were emphasized during the online meeting. The parties expressed their mutual willingness to close partnership within the framework of international and regional structures, as well as the commitment of countries to maintain peace, stability and security in the region and in the world. In this context, the importance of the policy of positive neutrality of Turkmenistan was emphasized. Discussing trade and economic cooperation, emphasis was placed on the importance of improving import and export procedures, as well as the implementation of agreements, achieved on the outcomes of the 15th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation. The Deputy Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan and the Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan outlined the positions of the parties on these issues. The prospects of interaction in the energy and water sectors, as well as improving the conditions for transit traffic were discussed. The parties expressed satisfaction with the high level of cross-border interaction in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. The representatives of the two countries expressed their mutual commitment to enhance dialogue in the cultural, scientific and educational fields.
