Joint combat against coronavirus pandemic was brought out to the agenda of online meeting of the Health Protection ministers of Non-Alignment Movement country members including Turkmenistan. Participants of the event highly appreciated initiative proposed by the President of Turkmenistan at the online meeting of Non-Alignment Movement in the format of Contact Group dedicated to combating coronavirus COVD-19 infection on May 4 this year. As is known, the Head of Turkmenistan proposed to develop and adopt programme document under this competent organization, which would include the main principles of joint activity of the state members in combating epidemics as well as to establish Medical Scientist Council and to use mechanisms of scientific diplomacy comprehensively. Heads of the health protection systems of Non-Alignment Movement country members highlighted the necessity of permanent exchange of practice and knowledge in prevention and treatment of dangerous infectious diseases as well information about effective medicine and personal protective equipment.

* * * Talks between the heads of health protection facilities of Russian Federation and Central Asian countries were held in online format at the Ministry of Health Protection and Medical Industry of the country. Current issues of cooperation, especially cooperation in consolidated combat against COVID-19 pandemic, have been discussed during the meeting, which was held together with the WHO European Regional bureau. It was mentioned that joint multidimensional work has to be carried out in partnership with the World Health Organization, which has gained unique experience in combating against virus infections for many years of its activity. * * * Development of effective measures against spread of coronavirus was also a subject of working session of representatives of the Ministry of Health Protection and Medical Industry with specialists of the World Health Organization in the building of the UN office in Ashgabat in online mode. Having given positive feedback to steadfast large-scale work of the our country, which is aimed at prevention of COVID-19, the WHO experts highlighted importance and timeliness of Turkmenistan’s Infectious Disease Prevention, Readiness and Response Plan developed by initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In this regard, representatives of the Ministry of Health Protection and Medical Industry noted that medical facilities of the country are fully provided with necessary medical equipment, personal protective equipment, test systems and disinfecting materials.
