In accordance with the Decree of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the ceremony of awarding the jubilee medal “75th anniversary of the Great Victory in 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War” and souvenirs to war veterans and the widows of fallen soldiers was held in Mekan Palace in Ashgabat. The exhibition of paintings, photographs and book publications, telling about the unprecedented courage and fortitude of those, who brought Victory over fascism on the battlefields and homefront, was arranged in the festively decorated foyer of the Mekan Palace in honor of the significant date. Among the guests of honour to the festive event were front-line veterans, widows of fallen soldiers, and home front workers. Representatives of public organizations, Ashgabat Khyakimlik, various departments, military and law enforcement agencies, higher educational institutions in Ashgabat, cultural workers and the media attended the celebration. Those speaking during the ceremony expressed deep gratitude to the heroes of the Great Victory for their unprecedented feat. Their courage, fortitude and love for the fatherland will stand as an example of patriotism and moral guide for the youth. The masters of the stage prepared a musical gift for the main heroes of the celebrations. The ceremonies of honoring the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, widows of fallen soldiers, and home front workers took place in all regions of the country.
