Online meeting with Energy Charter Secretary General, Urban Rusnak took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting brought together the Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas issues, heads and specialists of several ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Energy, as well as the “Türkmengaz” and “Türkmennebit” State Concerns. The meeting participants exchanged views on the key issues of international cooperation in the energy sector, modernization of the Energy Charter Treaty, as well as discussed the impact of the global agenda on world energy markets and plans for further interaction within authoritative organizations. The international legal regulation of energy transit, a primary task of the Energy Charter, which unites dozens of European and Asian countries today, was specified among the priority areas. In this context, the importance of the initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to guarantee the reliability and security of energy supplies to world markets, recognized by the relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly, was emphasized. As noted, the global nature of energy problems put forward the energy factor among the basic elements of Turkmen diplomacy. Its important vector was Turkmenistan’s role as a major supplier of energy resources in the formation of a new architecture of global energy security, which is an integral part of universal sustainable development. One of the key aspects of our country's energy strategy is the diversification and expansion of the geography of natural gas exports. Based on this, major projects are implemented to create a multivariate gas transmission system. In this regard, Turkmenistan welcomes the work of the Energy Charter Secretariat to integrate regional energy markets in order to achieve long-term stability and sustainability in the energy sector, ensuring widespread consumer access to cost-effective, environmentally friendly energy resources through the creation of appropriate infrastructure. Highly appreciating the contribution of our state to the development of the international energy dialogue, Urban Rusnak emphasized that the active participation of Turkmenistan in the work of the Energy Charter helped strengthening the country's position on the Eurasian energy platform with great potential for cooperation.
