An online meeting with Assistant Director-General, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Shamila Nair-Bedouelle was arranged at the International University of Humanities and Development under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The heads of the Ministry of Education and the Academy of Sciences, the Turkmen Agricultural University, the International University of Humanities and Development took part in the meeting. The meeting participants exchanged views on the priority areas of partnership between Turkmenistan and UNESCO in the field of higher education and science. The head of the UN Specialized Agency was informed on the achievements gained by our country in the development of education that meets the level of international standards, as well as the activities of the Innovation Information Center of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. Shamila Nair-Bedouelle expressed gratitude to her Turkmen colleagues for their willingness to actively participate in UNESCO programmes, which play a significant role in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the field of education. In this regard, emphasis was placed on such important aspects of the work to achieve the SDGs as ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. Emphasizing the importance of education as a link between science and technology, she invited the representatives of the sphere of education to take part in the implementation of a number of promising UNESCO projects. The meeting participants also discussed the opportunities for cooperation in digital projects, information exchange and other relevant topics. The meeting participants called for enhancing cooperation.
