Meeting in Mejlis of Turkmenistan

Last week, Special Envoy of Switzerland on the issue of water cooperation Mr. William Mayer and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Turkmenistan Mr. Pascal Ebisher (who were on a visit to the Turkmen capital) were received in Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The meeting was focused on the issues of improving the efficiency of water resources use, the national water policy and international cooperation in this sphere, as well as the relevant activities of Mejlis of the country on upgrading the national legislation and further strengthening inter-parliamentary relations. As noted with satisfaction, rational water management is a key aspect of the state policy of Turkmenistan, and is closely connected with tackling of the tasks on ensuring the country’s sustainable socio-economic development and environmental protection. Having stressed the importance of broadening the relations between the two countries in various areas, the guests expressed confidence in successful development of the fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Swiss Confederation, both in the bilateral and the Turkmenistan – EU formats.
