A delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the International Tourism Trade Fair – “ITB Berlin-2015”. This year, more than 10,000 specialists from 188 countries of the world worked in the vast exhibition grounds of the “Messe Berlin” Expo Center at the “ITB”. On the first day of the exhibition, Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai, accompanied by representatives of the “ITB Berlin” Organizing Committee examined a number of pavilions, including the one of Turkmenistan. The guests of the pavilion evinced special interest in the monuments of ancient history, cultural traditions, health resorts and natural wonders of our country, having emphasized that it is a blend of these tourism resources that makes it attractive not only to tourists from all over the world, but also to investors. Interaction between national structures was discussed at meetings of a representative of the State Tourism Committee of Turkmenistan with professionals of the tourist industry and colleagues from many countries, including Austria, France, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Peru, Lithuania, and Latvia. Foreign experts were acquainted with the large-scale work on modernization and expansion of tourism infrastructure, and the involvement of more and more new objects and areas in it. These will enable to significantly increase our visitors’ opportunities to become closely acquainted with the history, culture, customs and traditions, spiritual values of the Turkmen people. Consideration was also given to the prospects of making relevant agreements. The Turkmen exposition attracted attention not only of tour operators, but also companies specializing in tourism-related sectors. In total, the five-day “ITB Berlin-2015” was attended by 170,000 people (according to the statistics service of its Organizing Committee), and most of them were representatives of global business communities. 7,000 media representatives from 90 countries received accreditation to the event. The wide business-favored ground of the international forum in Berlin also gave Turkmenistan an opportunity to demonstrate its proposals and make mutually beneficial acquaintance, to establish new business contacts, which would provide a stimulus to the integration of the national tourism industry into the global travel and tourism infrastructure.
