On August 6, according to the Election Code of Turkmenistan, early voting to Gengeshi and Mejlis started in the electoral districts of Ashgabat city: #7 “Gunesh” and #8 “Dostluk”. In compliance with the Code, this procedure is primarily intended for the absentee voters – the citizens who, for one or another reason, will be away from their local polling stations on Election Day (August 16). As the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan has informed, all the stages of the pre-election campaign are organized on timely basis, in accordance with the national legislation and generally-admitted international norms. All polling stations of the country are fully prepared for work. National observers, appointed by political parties, public associations and the candidates themselves, will monitor the election process. All of them are authorized to visit the electoral districts before the elections and on Election Day. In turn, all-round meetings with candidates are going on, in the course of which voters are getting acquainted with electoral programs of candidates.
