Folklore group ""Dessan"" from Dashoguz Velayat won the first place at the International Festival ""Magic of Dance"", which took place in Khiva, Uzbekistan on September 15-16. The group together with Honoured Artists of Turkmenistan Dursunjemal Gazakova and Guvanch Otuzov won the jury with kushdepi dance, which is included in the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List. As a result, the Turkmen group, the winner of the Türkmeniň Altyn asyry-2019 prize, received a diploma of the laureate of the international festival “Magic of Dance” and a monetary prize – 2,000 USD. Our artists shared the first place with the team from Poland. The artistic groups from Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Georgia won the second place, the representatives of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, India and Uzbekistan ranked the third. The duet from Azerbaijan won the Grand Prix of the competition. Special diplomas were awarded to dance groups, leading in nominations “The Youngest Group”, “The Best Performer of Folklore Dance”, “The Youngest Dancer”, “The Best Choreographer” among others. The festival held at the Itchan Kala Reserve brought together artistic groups from 20 countries of Asia and Europe, including Indonesia, Italy, Japan, etc. The main goal of this event is to restore centuries-old traditions and widely cover the rich cultural heritage of the peoples. Speaking during the festival opening ceremony, Head of Administration of the Khorezm region, Farhod Ermanov noted that this event vividly testified that the language of dance united different peoples and cultures. A scientific conference dedicated to the national traditions of dance was organized within the framework of the festival. It was held in the city of Urgench, in the Turkmen-Uzbek House of Friendship, which was opened with the participation of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev in April 2018.
