President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in arrived on the state visit to Turkmenistan. The President of the Republic of Korea has been met by the officials in the International Airport of the capital. The guard of honour has been lined up along carpet path from the ramp. From the airport, the motorcade of the Head of the Republic of Korea went to the residence in Oguzkent Hotel escorted by motorcyclists. Talks between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in, during which the priorities of interstate relations would be discussed, would be held on April 17. As is known, strengthening of the dialog with the state of Asian Pacific region is one of the strategic vectors of foreign policy of our country. Turkmenistan sees the Republic of Korea, which is by right occupies leading positions among developed countries of the world, as important and reliable partner, cooperation with which is built on equal and long-term base. Regular meetings on high, intergovernmental and interdepartmental levels, each of which is resulted in extensive exchange of the visions on current subjects of bilateral agenda, are the evidence of the commitment of friendly countries to the course toward the expansion of multidimensional relations. It is also worth to highlight that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea cooperate fruitfully in multilateral format supporting constructive initiatives and proposals of each other given under the United Nations and other competent international organizations and regional structures. Our countries demonstrate the proximity or similarity of the positions in such main subjects as strengthening of peace and security, water, transport and energy diplomacy, sustainable development. In the last several years, traditionally friendly Turkmen – Korean relations have gained new dynamics and content. Having stated with delight this fact at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers on April 12, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the necessity of optimal implementation of significant potential of interstate cooperation in economic sphere. There are all opportunities for expansion of the spectrum of directions of beneficial partnership and productive business relations, activations of investment activity, implementation of new joint projects including in industrial sector. Implementing major programmes, which are targeted to the modernization and diversification of national economy, creation of strong industrial infrastructure, modern facilities making competitive production, our country bets on wide implementation of innovations, advanced technologies and the best practice. It opens the most favourable perspectives for cooperation with business and financial circles of South Korea including in oil and gas, textile, medical, construction industries, transport and logistics spheres, processing of mineral resources, information and communication technologies, etc. In this aspect, it is necessary to note efficient character of the seventh session of the Interstate Turkmen – Korean Commission for trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation, which was held in Seoul in February this year. At the same time, the business forum has been organized with the participation of the Commerce and Industrial Chamber of Turkmenistan and the Korean International Trade Association (KITA). The forum resulted in signing of number of documents on cooperation between the members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and Korean companies in the sphere of water management, agriculture, etc. Leading Korean companies work successfully for many years in different branches of Turkmen economy taking part in major infrastructural project including in petrochemical, gas processing, automobile and other industries. Construction of the plant for treatment of natural gas at Galkynysh deposit, installations for production of high-octane gasoline at Turkmenbashy Refinery Complex as well as polymeric plant in Kiyanly settlement are examples of this work. At present time, significant part of the fleet of public transport of Turkmenistan consists of Korean vehicles, which were bought for V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat in 2017. Cooperation in humanitarian sphere is also one of important components of Turkmen – Korean relations. This is indicated by growing contacts in education, science and culture, tourism and sports. Big role in this is given to the Friendship Association between the Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries, which is the organizer of all important cultural events like festivals, concerts, exhibitions, exchange of cultural delegations, etc. For example, national culture and art of Turkmenistan has been presented at the exposition, which was opened in Seoul on March 20 under the Spring Festival of Central Asia. This festival, which was organized by Korean Fund of Intenrational Exchanges, was dedicated to the tenth anniversary of inclusion of the Nowruz to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List and declaration of it as an international holiday by the UN. In general, all of these is visual evidence of mutual willingness to activation of interstate cooperation.
