As part of the festivities to mark the arrival of Nowruz, performing artists from Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) have given a concert at the border crossing, Howdan-Bajgiran, which has linked the two fraternal nations since ancient times. A joint exhibition fair of arts and crafts was also arranged. Among those attending the events were representatives of government authorities and public organizations, media professionals, renowned cultural figures, elders and youth from the two neighboring countries. Prior to the concert, an official ceremony was held to open the exhibition featuring paintings, decorative arts, textiles, jewelry and books from Turkmenistan and the IRI. Pop singers, musical and dance bands, folk ensembles performed in the concert of friendship. All performances boasted a unique national flavor and originality and perfectly matched the overall atmosphere of the big spring festival that embodies millennia-old humanistic traditions of the two friendly peoples. Today, Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran are linked by good-neighborly relations and historical roots, which stretch back over the centuries and provide a solid foundation for constructive cooperation between the countries. As highlighted by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, reciprocal Culture Days, exhibitions, and conferences greatly contribute to stronger bilateral humanitarian ties. And the festive event turned into a colorful showcase for these fine traditions.
