Intense preparations are well underway in Turkmenistan in the run up to the election on March 31 of Mejlis deputies, People’s Council and Gengesh members to replace those resigning before their term of office expires. On February 4-5, training seminars were organized for members of regional, etrap, city and constituency election commissions as part of the Election Activities Plan. The training events are designed to raise their professional expertise and enhance their legal knowledge. In the course of the seminars, members of the Central Election and Referendum Commission of Turkmenistan fully briefed the staff of local and constituency commissions on election-related legal documents and procedural requirements established to ensure the well-organized preparation and running of the important socio-political event.
