One-on-one talks between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were held in the capital of Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov welcomed the distinguished guest and thanked his Azerbaijani colleague for the attention given to the development of interstate relations that are based on the traditions of friendship and the historical, cultural and spiritual commonalities. The Turkmen leader noted that the two countries also successfully cooperated on the international arena and shared the common vision on the pertinent issues on the regional and global agenda. The head of state expressed confidence that the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan cooperation, that is built on this solid foundation and has a strong potential, will continue to progress for the benefit of all. President Ilham Aliyev thanked the Turkmen leader for the invitation to conduct an official visit to Ashgabat and for the cordial welcome. He noted that the bilateral partnership possessed broad opportunities, rendering which would serve the interests of our brotherly nations, historically tied with bonds of good-neighborliness and spiritual kinship. Azerbaijan sincerely welcomes the success of friendly Turkmenistan, the distinguished guest said and also stressed that his visit aimed to further strengthen the fruitful interstate cooperation in all fields. The President of Azerbaijan highlighted the constructive nature of the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan dialog and expressed confidence that the cooperation between our countries will continue to progress both in bilateral format and within reputable international organizations. The constructive discussion was held in the atmosphere of trust, and the heads of two states reviewed a wide range of issues related to the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan relations that have recently made a qualitative leap forward and acquired a nature of strategic partnership. Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ilham Aliyev focused on the key aspects of cooperation built on the principles of equality, mutual advantage and sustainability, and noted that the effective realization of the multidimensional potential of cooperation would serve the goals of general welfare. The sides also exchanged views on the pressing issues of mutual interest included in the regional and international agenda.
