President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Secretary General of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Javad Mottaghi, Acting President of the ABU, General Director of Indian State TV Channel Doordarshan Supriya Sahu and Vice-president of the ABU, President of Japanese Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) Ryoichi Ueda. Greeting the Head of the State, the guests highlighted that they are glad to visit Turkmenistan, which is known around the world by its constructive policy aimed at wide international cooperation in different spheres. Taking the opportunity, the management of the ABU expressed gratitude to Turkmen leader for excellent organization of the 55th session of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly in Ashgabat. Having expressed the gratitude for good words, the President noted that Turkmenistan takes steadfast measures for integration to the global information space paying great attention to development of efficient cooperation with foreign partners including competent international organizations. Integrated measures are realized to improve the activity of mass media, to modernize relative infrastructure based on introduction of innovations and advanced technologies in the country. The agenda of the 55th session of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly, which is to support further development of international cooperation in mass media sphere, establishment of partnership and wide implementation of modern information and communication technologies, was the subject of interested discussion during the conversation. Turkmen leader noted that our country, which is historically located in the heart of the Great Silk Road, initiates the restoration of this legendary route, which used to connect the states and nations not only by trade but also by humanitarian and cultural relations and served as communication bridge. Nowadays, these good traditions acquire new continuation and content, which also opens the opportunities for expansion of the cooperation with the ABU. In the end of the meeting, having again expressed cordial gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for personal support in the organization of the forum and hospitality rendered to all participants in Turkmen land, the managers of the ABU wished new success in large-scale activity to the Head of the State.
