President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who arrived in our country to attend the Summit of leaders of the founding member states of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. During the meeting, the counterparts noted that there is a wide field for increased mutually beneficial cooperation that meets t mutual long-term interests and sustainable development goals of the region. Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Emomali Rahmon stressed the importance of strengthening efforts to tackle topical ecological problems. In this context, the head of Tajikistan highly praised Turkmenistan’s international initiatives on the sustainable use of water resources, including during our country’s chairmanship of the IFAS. Discussing the development of bilateral relations, the parties evinced interest in closer contacts in the transport sector and successful implementation of joint projects in the field. President Emomali Rahmon also shared his impressions of the Avaza National Tourist Zone and expressed his admiration with the changes that had occurred in the seaside region of Turkmenistan.
