Head quarter of the Asian Football Confederation in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) held the award ceremony of winners of regional tournaments of 2018 AFC Cup. Secretary General of the AFC Dato Windsor John, who recently had working visit to Ashgabat, presented the certificate and small Cup to the winner of D group and Central zone - Altyn Asyr Football Club of the Ministry of Communication of Turkmenistan. It was the first time for Turkmen team to achieve such high result, having been qualified to the final part of 2019 Asian Cup. This success indicates improved level pf Turkmen football school. In group matches, the club from Ashgabat took over the compatriots from Ahal Club, Kyrgyz Alay and Istklol Club from Tajikistan. The Cup of the Central zone was contested in the last moments of final match where our sportsmen literally pulled out the victory from the team from Dushanbe playing away. The opponent of Turkmen club incoming match has already been defined. This is the winner of E group and South zone Bengaluru Club from India. This team was the second in 2016 AFC Cup. On the way to the final, Turkmen club has to win its opponent by the results of two matches. The first matches of the tournament will be held on August 21 – 22 while return games will take place on August 28 – 29, 2018. Altyn Asyr debuted in Turkmenistan championship in 2008 and in 2009, has already won important trophy – Turkmenistan Cup. However, it had to wait for gold medals of National championship for another six years. From that moment, the club from Ashgabat put itself confidently among the leaders of national football, having totally won four champion’s titles winning Turkmenistan Cup three ties and National Super Cup two times. The team of the capital improving its skill every year moved committedly to high results in international arena. Having debuted in AFC Cup in 2015, Altyn Asyr have not missed any other Cup. Current success was double achievement of our players. These are the leadership in the Central zone and revenge for the last year tournament where they were in one step from the victory also in the match with Tajik Istiklol. Therefore, Turkmen players continue competing for the main football trophy of Asian part of the continent.
