In the afternoon, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov who is currently on the state visit in Tashkent and his colleague Shavkat Mirziyoyev went to the Monument of Independence and Humanism on Mustakillik Square. This memorial complex includes two sculptural compositions of Independence and Happy Mother, which represent the image of new sovereign state and creative aspirations of Uzbek nation. The Guard of Honour lined up on the both sides of the stair running to the Memorial. Under the sounds of ceremonial melody performed by military orchestra, the basket of flowers was laid to the pedestal of the Monument on behalf of the Head of Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid tribute to National symbol of the Republic of Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev told to his Turkmen colleague the history of creation and symbols of the Monument as well as about the Arch of Good and Noble Aspirations located on Mustakillik Square, which is installed on 16 white-marble columns and crowned with sculptures of storks and cranes – the symbols of happy and peaceful life. After, joint motorcade of the leaders of two countries went to the Memorial Complex of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. It has the monument of prominent politician who was at the beginning of the establishment of independent Uzbek State. The opening of the Monument, which is located in front of Oksary Residence where the first President of Uzbekistan used to work for many years, was held in August of the last year. In the solemn atmosphere, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov laid the flowers to the Monument, having paid tribute and respect to the memory of prominent government official who made big contribution to the development o traditionally friendly Turkmen – Uzbek relations.
