According to the request of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairperson of the Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova received the credentials of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Turkmenistan Heiti Mäemees. On behalf of the Head of the State, the Speaker of National Parliament congratulated the guest on the appointment to high diplomatic post, having wished him success in the consolidation of friendship between two nations and in activation of Turkmen – Estonian cooperation. Having expressed the gratitude for warm words, the Ambassador assured that he would put all his diplomatic experience and knowledge for the improvement of Turkmen – Estonian cooperation for the sake of both countries and nations. During the conversation, Heiti Mäemees was introduced with the priorities of home and foreign policy pursued by the Head of Turkmenistan, which important vector is to establish wide international cooperation for universal peace, security and sustainable development. Special emphasis was laid on the realization of large-scale social and economic reforms and state programmes initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and aimed at the improvement of the wealth and quality of life of Turkmen citizens. The structure and law-making activity of Turkmen Parliament was also introduced to the Ambassador. Having demonstrated great interest to large-scale achievements of our country, Heiti Mäemees expressed the confidence in the presence of versatile potential for the development of Turkmen – Estonian interstate relations. The importance of further development of the relations and role of inter-parliamentary friendship groups have also been highlighted. *** On the same day, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Estonian Republic was received in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The Ambassador will look around the expositions of the capital’s museums and other place of interest of Ashgabat under cultural programme.
