The official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the State of Kuwait starts on March 13. Upon the completion of the visit to Kuwait, the President of Turkmenistan will make an official visit to the United Arab Emirates. As was noted during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on March 9, one of the priority directions of the foreign-policy course of our neutral Fatherland is strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with interested states, including the Middle East countries. Expressing satisfaction with the constructive character of relations with Kuwait and the UAE, the Turkmen leader focused on the impressive potential and prospects for building up the bilateral economic and trade ties, enhancing the investment and business contacts, as well as deepening the traditional dialogue in the humanitarian and cultural field with the aim to strengthen the bonds friendship between our countries and peoples. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined the importance of the forthcoming high-level talks designed to identify the key vectors of the mutually beneficial cooperation with the State of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates on the long-term basis, and to fill the interstate partnership with the new content that meets modern realities. The regular meetings between the heads, the government and the foreign-policy agencies of the countries, as well as the interaction in the framework of the United Nations Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other authoritative structures prove the positive dynamics of the Turkmen-Kuwaiti and Turkmen-Emirate relations. In the framework of the upcoming talks in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi, the parties will exchange the views on the various aspects of bilateral relations based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and goodwill, as well as the current international and regional issues. It is expected that the parties will discuss the diversification of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, including in the fuel and energy sector. As is known, Turkmenistan, Kuwait and the UAE have the largest hydrocarbon reserves in the world, which stand as a consolidating factor for the development and export of energy resources to international markets. There are great opportunities for building up cooperation in such industries as oil refining, gas chemistry, electric power industry, chemical industry, transport, communications, etc. In this regard it should be noted that regular visits of the representatives of financial and business circles of the Middle East countries to Turkmenistan confirm the growing interest of Arab business in the promising Turkmen market, where the most favorable investment climate for foreign partners was created due to the policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The large-scale reformatory programmes and projects implemented in our country in the fields of industrialization, import substitution, the formation of the modern transit and transport infrastructure, the introduction of the advanced technologies and scientific and technical developments open up new opportunities for increasing and diversifying the productive business contacts, enhancing the investment activity, and using the existing solid potential of the multifaceted partnership. The sides pay particular attention to the comprehensive development of tourism, cultural and humanitarian ties that promote the further mutual understanding and strengthening of the relations of friendship between the fraternal peoples. The fruitful bilateral cooperation is built up in the area of sports. That is vividly proved by the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in Ashgabat in 2017 under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), headquartered in the capital of Kuwait. The general orientation towards the development of cooperation in key areas to a large extent predetermines the success of the upcoming top-level talks in Kuwait and the UAE that will provide the foundation for the new stage in the modern history of the interstate relations. On the outcomes of the top-level talks, it is planned to sign the packages of bilateral documents, which will be another important step towards the intensification of the Turkmen-Kuwaiti and Turkmen-Emirate cooperation, and will allow to fill the traditional ties with the new content.
