On March 1 – 2 Tashkent hosted the 14th session of Joint Turkmen - Uzbek Committee for trade and economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation. Turkmenistan delegation chaired by Vice-premier B. Annameredov arrived in Uzbek capital for participation in its work. Heads and representatives of the ministries and departments of two countries took part in the meeting. During the session, the sides exchanged the opinions on the conditions and perspectives of bilateral trade and economic partnership in the context of realization of the Agreement between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on economic partnership in 2018 – 2020. Aspects of activation of the cooperation in transport and transit sphere have also been discussed. The importance of the agreements on transport corridor Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Oman has been highlighted and economic efficiency of opening of automobile and railway bridges Turkmenabat – Farab supporting the growth of transit potential of two countries and creating favourable conditions for the increment of cargo volumes in Transcaucasian transport corridor has been highly appreciated. The sides confirmed the commitment to the expansion of cooperation in cultural, scientific, art and sport spheres. Meetings and talks between the heads of the ministries and departments of two states have been held during the forum. Relative Protocol has been signed by the outcomes of the 14th session of Joint Turkmen Uzbek Committee for trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation. During the visit to Tashkent, Turkmenistan delegation has been received by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Aspects of the expansion of cooperation in political, diplomatic, energy, trade and economic, transport and humanitarian spheres have been discussed at the meeting. The sides shared the opinions on the opportunities to establish direct business contracts between business structures of the countries. Turkmen delegation has also met Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov. During the conversation, the sides shared the views on number of topical issues of regional and international politics as well as agreed on the approaches to the activation of bilateral relations. Aspects of cooperation under competent international organizations and structures have been discussed as well as the necessity of consolidation of the legal framework of cooperation has been highlighted. During the visit, the members of Turkmen delegation have visited Tashkent Agricultural Equipment Plant and passenger railway cars repair facility as well as have laid the flowers to the monument of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
