Sergei Meladze of Turkmenistan won the silver medals in the World Powerlifting Cup

In the World Powerlifting Cup among athletes with disabilities, held in the city of Dubai (the United Arab Emirates), Sergey Meladze of Turkmenistan was awarded the silver medal in the weight category up to 72 kilograms. In the first attempt, our athlete easily coped with the 180 kg weight, and the 185-kilogram weight was broken by Sergei in the second attempt. This allowed our sportsmen to take second place in the standings, being ahead of bronze medalist - athlete of Thailand Fongs Marasri, whose best result was the 180 kg weight. The winner in this weight category was master of powerlifting of Iraq Rasul Mohsin, who lifted the 220 kg weight. Sergei Meladze has a broad experience in performing at international high-level competitions. He has participated in the Paralympic Games in London, Rio de Janeiro and several world championships.
