The regular issue of the journal “Foreign policy and diplomacy of Turkmenistan” dedicated to the important events of the foreign-policy life of the country in the last three months of the year appeared in print. The issues starts with the traditional heading that in chronological order covers the meetings and talks between the Turkmen leader and the heads of foreign states. Thus, the official visit of the RF President to Turkmenistan took place on October 2, 2017. Leaders of the two countries – Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin considered the priority issues of the interstate relations, specified the key areas of cooperation, and discussed the important issues of the regional and global agenda that are of particular interest for the two countries. The sides confirmed the readiness to enhance and diversify the trade and economic partnership. The leaders of the two states specified industry, energy, high technologies, transport and communications, health care, agro-industrial complex, culture and sports as the main vectors of cooperation. The journal covers the official visit of the Turkmen leader to the Republic of Tajikistan on November 2-3. During the talks held in the trusted and business-friendly atmosphere, the Presidents discussed the wide range of the issues of cooperation. The agreements achieved on the outcomes of the top-level talks can be considered as a next step along the progressive development of the fruitful cooperation. The articles of the current issue underline that the active position of our country in the search for optimal, balanced solutions to the burning issues of our time predetermines the productive cooperation with partner countries within major international organizations, primarily the United Nations. Thus, last year was marked by the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's membership in the UN and the 10th anniversary of the opening of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) in the Turkmen capital. Over the years, the Centre has proved itself as a reliable forward stronghold of the Community of Nations in the region, providing a platform for close interaction between the United Nations and the Central Asian countries in many areas. On occasion of the anniversary of the Centre, the Resolution ""The Role of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia"" was adopted at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly that stands as another evidence of the international community’s recognition of the peaceful policy pursued by the Turkmen leader. The general support to the Resolution ""Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals"", initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and adopted at the 74th meeting of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on December 20, vividly proves the effectiveness of such cooperation. The 28th session of the International Energy Charter Conference, held in Ashgabat in November, was the most important event of the last year, which was reflected in this issue. The journal presents the international declarations adopted by Turkmenistan in October-December and the Resolution ""Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals"". The speeches of the high-ranking foreign guests at the international forums held in Turkmenistan, including Secretary General of the Energy Charter Secretariat, Dr. Urban Rusnak, and OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger occupy the important place among the publications. The Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Malaysia in Turkmenistan emphasized the great prospects for building full-scale interstate cooperation with our country. The materials prepared by the specialists of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan tell about the development of friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, as well as the prospects for establishing cooperation with the countries of Latin America. The article ""Improvement of the legal framework of international relations in Turkmenistan"", the author underlines the importance of the policy of good-neighborliness pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In this regard, it is noted that on the initiative of Turkmenistan, the Seventh Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII) was held in Ashgabat in November. The result of the forum was the signing of the five-sided Lapis Lazuli Transit, Trade & Transport Route Agreement with a view to enhancing regional economic integration and trade-based connectivity between the countries of Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. This international transport corridor will contribute to strengthening the partnership in a broad geo-economic space, including the regions of Central and South Asia, the Caspian and Black Sea basins, the Mediterranean. The traditional column ""Chronicle of diplomatic life"" is dedicated to the conferences, briefings, inter-ministerial political consultations, meetings of intergovernmental commissions, as well as bilateral meetings and negotiations with delegations of various countries and representatives of major international organizations, held in our country and abroad in October-December, 2017. The articles published in the magazine, the coverage of current topics and their popular presentation makes the regular issue of the publication interesting for numerous readers, including foreign ones.
