On February 13, the national boxing championship will start in Ashgabat. As organizers of competitions the Federation of Boxing of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Sports and the Youth Policy and also the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations act. The tournament which promises a lot of entertainment and fascinating moments will pass in the Olympic village of Ashgabat for four days. For participation in the championship about hundreds of sportsmen in ten weight categories among men and women representing the capital and all regions of the country will come. Today a solemn ceremony of the opening of tournament with representation of teams and also performances of dancing groups and artists of the country will take place. In the same evening the first fights will take place. At the end of competitions - on February 16 in final duels the strongest will be singled out. In the championship there will be a representative delegation at the head of Serik Konakbaev, vice-president of the International Association of Amateur Boxing and president of the Asian Boxing Confederation. Among guests of honour stars of professional boxing - champion of WBA and IBF Denis Lebedev, Olympic champion Oleg Saitov and also famous sportsman and actor, world champion of 1995 in the mixed single combats Oleg Taktarov are expected to be present. The future winners and silver prize-winners of the championship in boxing will become members of the national team where under the direction of famous Russian expert - head coach of the Turkmen team Alexander Lebzyak will begin preparation for the Asian Games in Jakarta. By results of performance of our boxers in international tournaments in 2017 which included victories and prize-winning places in the Islamic Games in Baku, the championship of Asia in Tashkent and tournament in Minsk, it is safe to say that they have a good chance.
