The delegations of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan held a working meeting in Turkmenbashi. The meeting agenda focused on the important areas of cooperation in core industries. It was underlined that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan possess high resource, economic, transport and communication potential, the implementation of which satisfy the mutual interests and the sustainable development goals in the regional and global level. In this regard, the meeting participants considered the possibilities of enhancing the efficient cooperation in such strategic spheres as the fuel and energy sector and transport. Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan with their impressive reserves of hydrocarbon materials and modern infrastructure implement the strategy based on the principles of the diversification of energy supply routes to the world markets that opens up wide opportunities for fruitful cooperation and new joint projects in this sphere. For many centuries, the Great Silk Road has run through the territory of the two neighbouring states, the revival of which in its new capacity has gained particular significance. In this regard, the implementation of the ambitious projects on the creation of the transit and transport corridors and logistics hubs of the international significance is of particular importance. Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan in this area have very beneficial positions from the geopolitical and geo-economical points of view. It was noted that the consistent implementation of the bilateral agreements reached at the highest and intergovernmental levels, as well as regular contacts with specialized structures and business circles would promote the further enhancement of the fruitful economic partnership, increase of the volumes and diversification of mutual trade turnover, encouragement of the investment activity, and in general all-round strengthening of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations. In this regard, it was underlined the historic importance of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan signed by the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Ilham Aliyev during the official visit of the Turkmen leader to Baku on August 8, 2017. This important document opened up a new page in the history of the interstate relations, confirming the constant aspiration of the parties to further develop the fruitful ties based on the bonds of friendship and good-neighborliness, the principles of equality and constructiveness and mutual goodwill. The members of the Turkmen delegation held meetings with their Azerbaijani counterparts to consider the prospects and priority vectors for further mutually beneficial cooperation in specific spheres and industries. At the same time, it should be noted that the current working visit of the delegation of the neighbouring state was undertaken in the context of the practical implementation of the agreements achieved on the outcomes of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2017, as well as in the framework of the preparations for the forthcoming visit of the President of Azerbaijan to our country. Within the framework of the bilateral meetings, a wide range of issues related to the activation and dynamic development of the partnership in various areas - from the oil and gas complex to the transport and communications sector and logistics, from the trade, economic and industrial spheres to humanitarian and cultural contacts was discussed. Gaining the independence and taking the course for full-scale cooperation, all these years our countries have rendered support to each other, demonstrating the high level of the interstate relations. In this aspect, the great importance is attached to the forthcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan, during which it is planned to sign another package of important documents designed to bring the traditional Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation up to the new level that meet its potential and modern realities.
