President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan Jin Ki Hoon, who presented his credentials to the head of state. Appreciative of the personal audience, the diplomat conveyed warm greetings to the nation’s leader from President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in, who also wished happiness, peace and prosperity to the entire Turkmen nation. Having affirmed his country’s commitment to the traditional friendly dialogue with neutral Turkmenistan on an equitable and long-term basis, Mr. Jin Ki noted that the Turkmen-Korean relations had acquired qualitatively new meaning. After sending warm greetings to his Korean counterpart, the nation’s leader congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and wished success in his noble and important work aimed to promote successful and mutually rewarding partnership in the bilateral and multilateral formats, including within large international organizations and agencies. During the audience, the head of state and the ambassador exchanged their opinions on prospects of enhancing interstate cooperation in a wide range of areas, including the trade-economic sphere. The parties also spoke for combining efforts in the building, energy and transport sectors, where Turkmenistan had introduced important initiatives, in particular the ones on building international transit-transport corridors to ensure economically advantageous routes for goods transportation. Stressing keen interest of Korean business circles in securing a stronger foothold in the Turkmen market with its business-favored conditions, the diplomat expressed his sincere gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov for his support. In this context, the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission and bilateral business forums that contribute to strengthening and expanding effective cooperation play an instrumental role. The parties identified humanitarian contacts as one of the priority areas of partnership. Teaching of the Korean language in Turkmenistan, the implementation of educational exchange programs and closer relations with leading universities of the Republic of Korea were cited as notable examples. Special emphasis was on the prospects for partnership in the fields of tourism, sport and modern information technology. The diplomat expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov for his care and attention to the issues of Turkmen-Korean cooperation and highlighted that he is truly honored to represent his country in Turkmenistan. Mr. Jin Ki Hoon assured that he would dedicate his energy and time to further promote the interstate relations. Concluding the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea expressed confidence that the traditional dialogue of friendship and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries would develop dynamically and fill with new content.
