At the session of the Government of December 15, Vie-premier S. Toyliyev presented the State programme of archaeological excavations of historical and cultural monuments located in our country along the Great Silk Road for the review by the Head of the State. The programme was developed by the Academy of Sciences together with National Department on Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Ministry of Culture. The Programme is designated for 2018 – 2021 and stipulates the establishment of international scientific contacts and development of cooperation with foreign scientific and research centres and attraction of famous scientists. It is planned to carry out the study of different archaeological, architectural and local history subjects based on archaeological artefacts discovered at the monuments of ancient and mediaeval history of Turkmenistan. TV and Radio programmes are to be made for popularization of historical and cultural heritage of our nation. Scientific conferences as well as production of fiction and documentary movies are planned. Comprehensive restoration works are planned to be carried out at archaeological, historical and cultural monuments along the Great Silk Road together with the excavations. The work on inclusion of material and non-materials values of Turkmen nations to the UNESCO World Heritage List will be activated. Having approved the programme and signed the Resolution, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave number of orders on the actualization of the Great Silk Road heritage and organization of big events.
