Turkmenistan won a gold and two silver medals, demonstrating one of the best results in high-level tournaments at the World Series of Powerlifting World Cup finals held in Dubai (UAE).

In the World Powerlifting Cup among athletes with disabilities, held in the city of Dubai (the United Arab Emirates), Sergey Meladze of Turkmenistan was awarded the silver medal in the weight category up to 72 kilograms.

Our athletes won three silver and two bronze medals at Open Sport and Combat Sambo Tournament for the prize of the Cup of the President of the Republic of Belarus held in Minsk.

The resident of Ashgabat Yusup Ismayilov (up to 52 kg) was awarded a silver medal on the first day of the Open Championship on sports and combat sambo for the prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus. In this weight category, athletes from Russia, Ukraine, Mongolia and the hosts of the tournament also claimed for prizes.

In the Olympic village final meetings of the national boxing championship in the men's and female category which decided for gold and silver medals in all weight categories, took place. The boxers who competed the day before in semi-finals became owners of bronze awards.

Semi-final fights of Turkmenistan Boxing Championship were held in the capital Olympic village. Strongest boxers of the country contested to qualify to the final and those who lost had to content to the third places and the bronze. Taking into consideration the importance of the meeting on the ring, the fights were exciting and rose great interest of numerous spectators and guests of the competition.

The second day of National Boxing Championship is over. Selbi Kuvusheva representing the team from Lebap Velayat took over Alyona Durova from Ashgabat in women competitions in the weight category up to 54 kg. It is worth mentioning that rules of women boxing are the same as the men’s – the fight consists of three rounds three minutes each. The only difference is that wearing helmet is mandatory in women fights.

Competitions were organized by Turkmenistan Boxing Federation, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and by the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Affairs.

In the course of the second qualifying round of the Asian Football Confederation Cup 2018, the Turkmen team “Akhal” won the “Khujand” club of Tajikistan with the score 1:0. The match took place in the multifunctional sports complex in the administrative center of Balkan velayat.

On February 13, the national boxing championship will start in Ashgabat. As organizers of competitions the Federation of Boxing of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Sports and the Youth Policy and also the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations act.
