Social and Cultural Centre of the Olympic village hosted the closing ceremony of the World Weightlifting Championship and the award ceremony of the winning men and women teams.

Collection of sport achievements of our country was supplemented with bronze medal on the first day of the World Sambo and Combat Sambo Championship in Bucharest.

Men competed for the medals in super heavy weight category above 109 kg on the last day of the World Weightlifting Championship.

Women competed for the medals in the weight category above 87 kg on the final day of the World Weightlifting Championship.

Weightlifter from Armenia Simon Martirosyan became the leaders and world champion in the amount of disciplines in men’s weight category up to 109 kg, having lifted 435 kg in total and set new world record. He achieved this result, having lifted 195 in the snatch where he was the second and owing to total victory in the clean-and-jerk where he took over the nearest opponent by 12 kg, having lifted 240 kg and set the world record.

Crismery Sanatana from the Dominican Republic was just a little behind to win the gold in the snatch women’s 87 kg weight category. She lifted 117 kg in the last attempt, however she was taken over by Hui Ao from the PRC by one kg. Weightlifter of the PDRK Un Ju Kim was the third.

Contests in women’s 81 kg started on the eighth day of the competitions. Our fellow countrywoman Aysoltan Toychiyeva competing in B Group was the third in the clean-and-jerk and in total and the fourth in the snatch.

The eighth day of the competitions of the World Weightlifting Championship is finished. It detected the winners of men’s 102 kg weight category. Our compatriot Ovez Ovezov, who competed out of scoring, demonstrated the best result in in the snatch and in total and third result in the clean-and-jerk in B Group.

Women started the contest for the medals of the World Weightlifting Championship in the weight category of 76 kg. The main contest was between titled athletes Jong Sim Rim (the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea) and Zhouyu Wang (China). After two attempts, representative of the PDRK took over her opponent by one kg, having lifted 119 kg. the third attempt did not bring any luck two both sportswomen and Jong Sim Rim kept the leadership. Patricia Barrera from Ecuador was the third with junior record of 117 kg.

Men’s 89 weight category competitions were held in hard fought contest. In snatch discipline, the sportsmen were so equal that the difference between the leaders and the tenth position was only four kg. Hence, in this situation, the result of the last attempt could brign the sportsmen to pedestal or take out of the ten.
