The President of the Republic of Finland, Sauli Niinistö in his letter congratulated President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Today, UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres has participated in the High-level UN-Central Asian Dialogue on Implementing the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy as part of his working visit to Turkmenistan. Ministers, high-ranking officials, executives of counter-terrorism organizations and national security agencies from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan were among those attending the meeting.

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who is currently on the working visit in Ashgabat, expressed the gratitude to Turkmenistan for assistance to the refugees and stateless persons.

The invitation was uttered during the negotiations of the Head of the State and the UN Secretary General. We pay not only sports but also large political and social importance to these competitions, - the President of Turkmenistan said. Today, sports becomes more important element of human cooperation, the tool of mutual understanding and tolerance in relations between the states and the nations, people of different confessions and beliefs.

During the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres paid particular attention to the cooperation on the Sustainable Development Goals, including climate change and environment protection.
