The President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution on regulation of consumer tariffs for gas, electricity, living and communal, automobile transport and communication services. It has been mentioned that people were presented with free water, gas, electricity and salt and that utility payments were relatively small from the first years of the independence. Today, this system of social benefits has completed its objective and introduction of new tariffs is aimed at better care and more rational, prevention of excessive use and protection of natural resources of the country. This is exactly what the elders of the nation pointed at for several years speaking with the proposals on introduction of utility payments what in their opinion, has to support the improvement of consumer and ecological culture. According to the signed document, it is planned to regulate the prices for excess of gas and electricity consumption provided for free and for living and municipal, transport and communication services.
