According to the data collected by the State Statistics Committee for the nine months of 2017, many sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan saw a steady increase in output. As compared to the same period in 2016, the running year’s nine-month production growth rates were identified in percentage terms as follows: natural gas – 7.8; gasoline and diesel fuel – 0.2; lubricants – 1.9; metalwork – 5.1; electric power – 4.8; cotton fabrics – 10.2; leather – 6.3; ready-to-wear clothes and knit goods – 9.4. Steady growth was achieved in the food industry. In the agricultural sector, the production of the following products rose in percentage terms: vegetables – 1.1; melons and watermelons – 8.2; potato – 1.7; fruit – 1. Goods transportation (all modes of transport) and passenger transportation increased by 12 percent and 3.9 percent respectively from last year.
