Construction of TAPI Pipeline Advances as Scheduled

During the government session the Vice Premier in charge of fuel and energy complex, M.Babayev, has presented his report on the progress in the implementation of the project to construct the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) pipeline. The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers has stated that the laying of the Turkmenistan section of the gas main is advancing as scheduled. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of the TAPI project for the region through which the long-term supply of Turkmenistan’s natural gas to the largest countries of South Asia will be ensured. According to the head of state, implementation of this energy project will give a strong impetus to the economic development of the region; resolution of social and humanitarian issues; and consolidation of peace and stability.
