President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on 8-9 August of this year. The issues related to the visit were discussed at the government session. As reported by the Vice Premier, head of the MFA, R.Meredov, having established diplomatic relations in June 1992, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are developing the constructive collaboration in political, commercial, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Currently, the legal framework of the interstate partnership includes 52 bilateral documents. Between 2007 and 2017, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan have witnessed 4 mutual visits on the highest level; established the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan Commission on Economic Cooperation; and held 4 sessions of this commission to the date. A large package of documents, aimed at the further intensification and development of the mutually beneficial partnership in the priority areas, is expected to be signed following the upcoming high-level talks.
