President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has convened a working meeting to consider and tackle specific tasks (among other matters) in the light of preparations for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, including in the services, trade and public sectors. Some Cabinet Deputies Chairman and senior officials of sectoral ministries and agencies were among those attending the meeting. Addressing the meeting participants, the President of Turkmenistan has highlighted that there is very little time left before the start of the 2017 Asian Games, having reminded that thousands of athletes and guests from 64 countries of Asia and Oceania as well as a refugee team will participate in the Games. The participants in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games should be well supplied with everything necessary, including high-quality products, manufactured by domestic producers, textiles, food, souvenirs, and others. Through the medium of the Ashgabat 2017 Asian Games, we should showcase worldwide our people’s noble customs and traditions, their hospitality and indissoluble national unity, the head of state noted, having given issue-associated instructions to the meeting attendees. At the meeting, special accent was placed on the need to supply athletes and guests participating in the Games with a wide range of high-quality food products, manufactured by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Economy, and the State Food Industry Association. It is important to offer a wide selection of products for sale, including national gifts and souvenirs at the sports competition venues. Efforts should be made to ensure that shopping centers (nearby the Olympic Complex) with a great variety of food and non-food products on sale as well as fast-food cafes are open round the clock. The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs received special instructions on ensuring high-quality food supply to athletes, members of official delegations, eminent guests, media representatives, volunteers and service staff. The State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service was assigned to have control over food storage, cooking and high standards of hygiene. Top executives in the transport sector were instructed to provide transportation facilities to promptly deliver various goods and products for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. At present, the preparations for the Games have entered the final stage. All the facilities of the Olympic Complex are ready to welcome athletes of 65 teams. The Complex’s facilities (which meet international standards) are to host competitions in 21 sports. A number of test and other important events attended by foreign guests have already been held there.
