Turning the capital of Turkmenistan into a major international center for economic, political, cultural life, sports and tourism is a task set forth by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the comprehensive development strategy of Ashgabat. The works on the improvement of Ashgabat, renovation of its appearance, construction of sports facilities and creation of the most hospitable environment have reached unprecedented scale in the course of preparation for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. The road-transport network was reconstructed, optimizing car flows and reducing travel time. The reliability of power supply has been increased, air LEPs have been replaced by more secure underground communications. Social priorities are embodied in housing construction, which implies the erection of kindergartens, schools, sports and playgrounds, shops, availability of a household service network, car parks, green areas and much more in each array and quarter. Remodeling and renovation of existing facilities, residential buildings, intra-quarter roads and landscaping of the territory adjacent to the buildings is done in all districts of the city. Ashgabat as the capital largely determines the image of the country, reflecting the economic state of the country, the level of culture and spiritual life of the society, intellectual potential. Impersonation of the country's desire for new heights and world achievements has been embodied in the construction of the Olympic town in the capital, which in September will host 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
