Ashgabat’s Mizan Business Center has hosted a Turkmen-Belarusian business forum, co-organized by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and Belarus. The Belarusian delegation included representatives of some 20 big enterprises and companies. Among them are Mogilev Wagon Works, Evromash Plant, Technodvor LLC, Gomel Machine Tool Units Plant, Instrumental Technologies CJSL, Managing Company of Bel-OMO Holding, representatives of the food industry, companies, selling engineering products and spare parts, high-tech engineering tools, building equipment and road-building machines, building materials, as well as printing and cosmetic companies, furniture manufacturers, and others. Representatives of sectoral ministries and agencies, private manufacturers and service providers were among those attending the forum from the Turkmen side. Speaking at the forum, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Turkmenistan Oleg Tabanyuhov has emphasized that interstate partnership has great untapped potential in the trade-economic field, in which there are essential prerequisites for boosting mutual trade turnover, and diversifying contacts, including business contacts. A notable example of effective bilateral cooperation is the large-scale joint construction project in Lebap velayat – the Mining-and-Processing Complex for the production of potash fertilizers. Forum speakers also highlighted the instrumental role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian Commission for Economic Cooperation in deepening mutually advantageous partnership. Its 8th meeting was held in the capital of the Republic of Belarus, Minsk, on May 10. Guests from Belarus offered to provide supply services and set up high-tech production of different-type equipment and software, and expressed an interest in buying Turkmen textiles, agricultural and industrial products, enhancing cooperation in food production. In the course of meetings, representatives of the two countries’ business circles and enterprises discussed potentialities for supplying railway rolling stock, farm and road-building machinery; possibilities for cooperation in the production of high-tech electric light equipment, in the printing industry and specialists’ training. The parties also identified approaches to increasing mutual trade turnover and establishing direct contacts between producers.
