In the afternoon, the 8th International Gas Congress of Turkmenistan opened in the Berkarar Hotel’s conference hall. Representatives from organizations and departments of Turkmenistan’s fuel-and-energy industry offered their potential partners insights into the key aspects of the energy strategy, long-term development plans for the country’s gas industry. Special mention was made of ongoing preparations for the Ashgabat Energy Charter Conference entitled “Towards a Multilateral Framework Agreement on Transit of Energy Resources” to be held in late May. The high-level representative conference is aimed to continue the international dialogue in the strategic area such as formation of the new global energy security architecture, an integral factor for universal sustainable development. The congress attendees were taken on a tour to the settlement of Kiyanly on the Caspian Sea coast to get acquainted with the construction progress of the region’s biggest gas chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene. The large-scale investment project is being implemented by Turkmengas State Concern in cooperation with LG International Corporation, Hyundai Engineering (Republic of Korea), and TOYO Engineering (Japan). The 8th International Gas Congress will continue tomorrow. As part of the forum, bilateral meetings will be held between senior officials of Turkmenistan’s oil-and-gas sector and foreign partners.
