The presentation of the large national and international investment projects, implemented in Turkmenistan was arranged at the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan for the members of the representative delegation from Doha, who arrived in our country headed by the Chairman of one of the leading companies “Al Qamra Holding” Mr. Hamad Bin Saleh Al Qamra. Opening the meeting, all those present noted that the two friendly states paid particular attention to improving the investment climate, widening internal market, introducing innovations and increasing the export volumes. The main task of the meeting is to boost the interstate long-term cooperation. Turkmenistan representatives familiarized the members of the delegation of Qatar with the key areas of the state policy and the progress of implementation of significant programmes, initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Through the specific examples, the partners from Qatar got acquainted with the potential of the country that grows, first of all, due to increasing production resources, improving the quality and mechanisms of their application. The main indicator – GDP growth that made up 6.2 percent in 2016 vividly testifies to the sustainable character of the national economy. A number of key segments of the national economy, including the fuel and energy complex, transport and communication sphere, chemical and medical industries among others were specified as the main vectors of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Qatar. In recent years, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has initiated ambitious projects that play an important role in strengthening the regional energy security and creating a powerful international transit and transport hub in Turkmenistan. In this regard, the businessmen from Qatar were familiarized with the key stages of implementation of the scheduled and implemented in present projects. One of the reports presented during the meeting was dedicated to the work of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan, an official agent of the Government of Turkmenistan at the international capital market. It was noted that the bank took an active part in attracting foreign loans to implement various projects, including financing of construction of the polyethylene and polypropylene production complex, sulphuric-acid monohydrate production facility, the plants on processing natural gas into gasoline and carbamide production plants. It was emphasize that the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan pays special attention to enhancing cooperation with the leading financial organisations, jointly with which a number of significant projects were implemented. The opportunities for establishing cooperation in the medical industry were also discussed during the meeting. As a result of the successful implementation of the State programme on the improvement of the health care industry, over 30 medical products manufactured in Turkmenistan are exported. In this context, the meeting participants emphasized the huge potential for the implementation of investment projects, including joint production based on local raw materials and medical plants, growing on the territory of our country. Those speaking during the meeting focused on the private entrepreneurship that successfully develops in Turkmenistan. The range of work of the representatives of the non-government sector is very wide – growing and processing agricultural products, construction and production of construction materials, trade and services, fish industry, etc. The participants of the presentation watched a video film, telling about the progress of the implementation of the strategy of the social and economic development of Turkmenistan as well as the importance of the policy of progressive reforms pursued under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Those present exchanged their views and called for the comprehensive development of the bilateral relations that they highly evaluated. The representatives of the delegation of Qatar underlined the high prospectivety of the Turkmen market that has all necessary conditions for successful business. In this regard, the meeting participants put forward a number of proposals aimed at widening the mutually beneficial partnership. The members of the delegation of Qatar had a number of meetings with the Government of Turkmenistan, ministries and departments to discuss joint projects and further areas of cooperation.
