Today the cotton sowing campaign took a start in the country. Cotton growers of Akhal, Lebap and Mary velayats started the sowing campaign. A bit later - on March 29 – cultivators of Dashoguz velayat will also join them. This year in Turkmenistan 545 thousand hectares of land is allocated for cotton and it is planned to gather 1 million 50 thousand tons of ""white gold», including, in Akhal velayat - 207 thousand tons, Dashoguz velayat - 230 thousand tons, Lebap velayat - 300 thousand tons, Mary velayat - 313 thousand tons. For the sowing campaign over 65 thousand tons of selected seeds of cotton of medium and fine-fibered species were prepared. The medium fibre varieties are traditionally cultivated in all regions of Turkmenistan. Among them the preference is given to such species as «133», ""Yoloten-7"", ""Dashoguz-120"", ""Serdar"", «S-4727», ""Yoloten-39"", which differ with the earlier ripening, productivity, length and cleanliness of fibre. Fine-fibered varieties of cotton - ""Yoloten-14"" and others will be sown in two regions of the country - Mary and Akhal velayats. In the present sowing campaign more than 7 thousand 600 tractors of various marks, over 3 thousand 200 seeders, more than 7 thousand cotton cultivators, harrows and other agricultural mechanisms necessary for maintenance of uninterrupted sowing and also performance of subsequent agro-technical actions will be exploited. 379 bio-laboratories will provide cotton growers with bio-production used against pests of cotton. Today in Balkan velayat the spring sowing of vegetables and forage crops also took a start. Within the celebrations on the occasion of the start of the sowing campaign exhibitions of agricultural machinery and production of processing enterprises of the agrarian and industrial complex of Turkmenistan were been organized. The song and musical and dance and folklore groups of velayats prepared their musical gifts for cotton growers. The efficiency of the agrarian sector grows thanks to deep structural transformations supported with solid investments, introduction of advanced methods by agricultural technicians and modern technologies, use of high-efficiency agricultural machinery in the given sphere. The prime attention is given to the strengthening of material base of cotton-growing branch and construction of new modern factories. So, the infrastructure of the sector was supplemented with ginneries constructed in Kuneurgench etrap of Dashoguz velayat, in Sakarchage etrap of Mary velayat, Altyn asyr etrap of Akhal velayat and Karabekewul etrap of Lebap velayat. Each of them annually processes 40 thousand tons of cotton, and prepares high-quality seeds for future harvests.
