The “Sport” Hotel, which is in the capital’s Olympic Complex, has hosted an event to mark the launch of “Ashgabat 2017” Volunteer Program designed to register volunteers for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017. Students from all educational institutions will have an opportunity to file their applications electronically to become volunteers for the upcoming Games in September. Attendees highlighted the importance of volunteer work for such major sporting events, clearly defined key aspects in volunteer training, which is organized in close cooperation with the Executive Committee of the V Asian Games, State Sports Committee and Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. As informed, a number of contests had been held to select voluntary helpers for the Asian Games. Would-be volunteers attended foreign language training courses and seminars. Participation in the international tournaments in the Turkmen capital as well as in major competitions in Russia, China, the Republic of Korea, and Azerbaijan, offered them invaluable practical experience. Director General of “Trivandi Chanzo Limited” (Britain) Mick Right expressed his profound gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov for the opportunity to take part in the 2017 Asian Games. He also spoke about partnerships established with 19 higher education institutions in our country. Mr. Right said that 10,000 specially trained volunteers, who have undertaken the volunteer program, would participate in the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. Among those in attendance at today’s event were representatives of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan, heads of volunteer centers at our country’s higher education institutions, and students. Song-and-dance performances by young performing artists, spectacular shows by “Galkynysh” Group added color to the occasion and created a festive atmosphere. The event was co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture and the Executive Committee of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
