Today, the capital city hosted the press conference "Arkadag” football team- the pride and future of Turkmen football».

The present event organised in the International Broadcasting Centre of the Olympic village with participation of representatives of local and foreign mass-media, gain attested to successful implementation of initiatives of National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag in the field of physical culture and sports development under the far-sighted leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Today, our country carries out efficiently large-scale measures on further improvement of the sphere of physical training and sports, popularisation of principles of healthy lifestyle, encouragement of mass physical training and Olympic movement. At the same time, a great deal of work is implemented to promote and expand target international partnership. In this connection, regular construction of modern sports centres and large profile complexes in regions of our fatherland is remarkable. Thus, our native country, which focuses its sports potential in interests of peace and friendship, brings a considerable contribution to the strengthening of cooperation in the field of sports at the international level.

As was marked in speeches, along with other sports, our country pays special attention to the development of football. And in the given context, achievements in football, in particular, triumphal victories of the «Arkadag» football team are notable.

The «Arkadag» football team, as known, was created in 2023 thanks to efforts of Hero-Arkadag. That year it successfully performed in matches of the Championship of Turkmenistan and tournament of the Cup of the country - brilliant achievements the «Arkadag» football team visually displayed its great future. One should also point out that in 2025, the «Arkadag» football team became the champion of the AFC Challenge League and the given event increased the prestige of Turkmen sports.

Foreign journalists, who spoke at the press conference noted that achievements the «Arkadag» football team clearly testify to the remarkable results of active care of development of professional sports in Turkmenistan at the state level. They also highly appreciated successes of the «Arkadag» football team for such short period. Besides, it was underlined that participation of the football team in the AFC Second League of Champions will serve as stimulus for its new achievements on the international sports arena.

In addition, it was marked that possibilities of modern infrastructure of Arkadag city allow holding competitions of any level, transforming Turkmenistan into the important sports centre in Asia.

Further, they underlined the importance of the forthcoming meeting between the «Arkadag» and Saudi "Al-Nasr" football teams within the 1/8 finals of the AFC-2 Champions League.

Experts defined the future match as large sports event, which will involve millions spectators from every corner of the globe. The game against the team, in which eminent stars play, will not only become an uneasy showdown for football players of our country, but also a possibility to present Turkmen football at the level of the continent.

At the same time, the role of mass media in the context of development of sphere of sports was marked. Representatives of the foreign press underlined a high level of organisation of sports actions in Turkmenistan and confirmed readiness for intensification of cooperation in their broadcasting. As was marked, the extended coverage of achievements of «Arkadag» football team will considerably raise the interest of international sports community in Turkmenistan.

At the end of the press conference, it was underlined that at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and with assistance of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, regular measures are implemented to develop sports in Turkmenistan where the particular attention is given to the strengthening of position of sports as an envoy of peace.

Thus, foreign guests, having expressed their sincere gratitude for the possibility for the fruitful dialogue, noted the «sports diplomacy» of Turkmenistan as an important tool in consolidation of relations between peoples and continents.
