Today, a meeting of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan was held, during which issues related to the preparation for the upcoming elections of members of the Genesh of the village of Aba Annayev of the Karizek etrap of the city of Arkadag, appointed in accordance with the Resolution of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on the 23rd of July of this year, were considered.
The meeting, in addition to members of the CEC and working groups under the Central Election Commission, was attended by national observers - senior officials of the Democratic Party, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan, public organizations and associations of the country, as well as representatives of the media.
The main item on the agenda is the announcement, in accordance with the current Electoral Code, of the start of the election campaign on the 17th of May, in connection with which a range of issues relating to its various aspects was considered. The importance of upcoming events in the context of Turkmenistan's commitment to the democratic path of development was emphasized.
Reports were heard on the progress of organizational work, including the formation of the composition of the relevant election commissions and the creation of five constituencies for the election of members of the Genesh of the village of Aba Annayev, Karizek etrap of the city of Arkadag.
The Central Election Commission approved the action plan for the preparation and conduct of the above elections. Leaflets for election commissions and other related documents were considered and approved.
As local self-government bodies, Geneshes are active conductors of state policy, interested participants in large-scale reforms and comprehensive development programs being implemented in the country. In this regard, the participants emphasized the importance of holding the campaign at a high organizational level, in strict accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan, electoral legislation and international law. Among the priority tasks, the meeting participants identified ensuring transparency and a wide alternative to elections, as well as conducting proper explanatory work among the population.
It was noted that the upcoming elections are an important event in the socio-political life of the country, embodying the next stage of state building within the framework of the concept of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the democratization of society, based on the primordial national traditions of the Turkmens, since ancient times committed to the principles of genuine democracy.
During the meeting of the Central Election Commission, other organizational issues were considered, on which appropriate decisions were made.
